- A major transportation company recognized the need to significantly increase
its presence in the very vibrant southwest Ontario marketplace.
To make it happen, the firm called Reimer Associates. Our challenge was to find
a solid regional player with a satisfied customer base and a strong distribution
network, including a facility that could handle substantial growth that they
would drive through it.
We leveraged our extensive network, and knowledge of the players to develop
a preliminary profile, supplementing this with additional research. We talked
with dozens of companies, narrowing the field to three firms who hit the target.
Each company was willing to engage in confidential discussions regarding the
sale of their business.
Working closely with our client, we selected our target company and began
negotiations. We managed the deal development and helped the client work
through the challenges that present themselves in almost every complex
transaction. The outcome was a win-win transaction with all parties satisfied
with the process.
Paltainer, headquartered in Toronto, Ontario is an international freight forwarding
company with worldwide coverage. Following 20 years of solid growth and profitability
the time arrived for the four partners to sell the business.
Reimer Associates was retained to provide leadership in the search for an appropriate
buyer and manage all aspects of the selling process. Priority was placed on finding a
firm with solid financial footing and the ability to generate continued growth.
Leveraging our extensive network, an exhaustive search for a purchaser was conducted.
Careful research narrowed the group of potential purchasers to those that best met the
search criteria. Negotiations began with Manitoulin Transport, one of Canada's largest
freight management providers. Throughout the process Reimer Associates worked with both
parties to structure a win-win transaction.
The result was a successful sale where both seller and buyer were satisfied with the
process and eventual outcome.
